Yeah! Everything has been working well since then including shut down and start up and both have been significantly faster. So I updated the Bluetooth driver first and it was successful and then the Wi-Fi driver and this time it was successful. It informed me I needed to update 2 drivers - the WiFi driver and the Bluetooth driver. This time I started from the Intel Driver and Support Assistant on my task bar. Then I went back to installing the Intel Wi-Fi driver. After starting it back up I ran the Sysnative File Collection app, uninstalled an app I had recently installed and disabled 4 startup programs. When I did this it refused to shut down and I received another BSOD with the same stop code: Driver Power State Failure. So I thought maybe I should close the open apps and restart my PC. No specific reason was given - just that it failed. The first time I attempted to install the update the install failed.
Ok, took your advice MrPepka to update my Intel Wi-Fi driver. I don't know if this is related to my BSOD issues but I now get the feeling there were other issues I was not aware of prior to the BSOD on. It appears all other Windows Defender installs were successful, both before and after. I also noticed today on the Speccy Snapshot there was a large number (383) of failed installs of Security Intelligence Update for Windows Defender Antivirus (KB2267602 Version 1.307.3275.0) on. Then this morning when I started the PC from a sleep state I was informed that I did not have an internet connection (WIFI was working fine) and] after a few minutes it generated a BSOD with a Stop Code: Driver Power State Failure. I did not get the Stop Code for that BSOD. All 3 were successfully installed prior to the BSOD and I have paused any further updates. Security Update for Adobe Flash Player (KB4537759). Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1903 (KB4532693) 2. On I noticed a BSOD following 3 Windows updates 1. Current version is: 1903 installed on 7/30/19 and the build is 18362.657. Windows 10 Home 圆4 was pre-installed and I have not reinstalled Windows.
My current desktop PC an Acer Aspire TC-780 was purchased in July 2018.
As I said in my introduction although utilizing a PC at home for about 36 years, this is my first experience posting to a computer forum.
